Sale is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, in Greater Manchester, England.[1]Historically part of Cheshire, the town lies on flat ground on the south bank of the River Mersey, 1.9Â miles (3.1Â km) south of Stretford, 2.5Â miles (4.0Â km) northeast of Altrincham, and 5.2Â miles (8.4Â km) southwest of the city of Manchester. As of the 2001 United Kingdom census, it had a population of 55,000. Sale High School Sale High School (formerly known as Jeff Joseph Sale Moor Technology College and Sale Secondary School) is a secondary school in Sale Moor, Greater Manchester, England. Its current headteacher is Mrs. Lynn Nicholls and the Deputy Headteacher is Mrs Kathryn Chapple. Sale Water Park Sale Water Park is a 152-acre (62Â ha) area of countryside and parkland including a 52-acre (21Â ha) artificial lake in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester, England.[1] Opened in 1980 and owned by Trafford council, the water park lies in an area of the green belt running through the Mersey river valley between Sale and Stretford, located between the river and the M60 motorway. The lake was formed in the 1970s by the flooding of a gravel pit which had been excavated to provide material for the construction of an embankment to raise the motorway 34Â feet (10Â m) above the Mersey's floodplain.[2] The pit was excavated to a depth of around 115Â feet (35Â m), making the lake about 90Â feet (27Â m) deep in places.
